March 29th 2009, director Yao Shenhong and Subinay Nandy, director of United Nations Development Programme visited the clean energy, poverty alleviation project within the Jatropha nursery cultivation center in Ding’an township, Hainan. Fully affirmed the ecological, renewable energy development model and demonstration effects of the poverty alleviation and reduction project.
This project focuses on providing support to farmers through the production of bio-diesel from Jatropha. The project utilizes the cultivation of Jatropha to increase income to farmers in poor areas. Jatropha seedlings produce in the cultivation center will be transported to three counties in Guangdong for local farmers planting.
